Retail First shopping centres have the Christmas decorations hung and the lights twinkling, ready for Santa’s imminent arrival.  The portfolio of 20 shopping centres has the Christmas spirit in full swing.

Roy Morgan’s annual Christmas retail sales forecasts, conducted in conjunction with the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) indicates Australians will spend over $52.7 billion across retail stores during the Christmas trading period.  This is an increase of 2.6% on 2018’s performance.   Analysis of Roy Morgan’s pre-Christmas retail forecasts by State and Territory shows growth is expected across the nation led by Queensland, up by 3.6% to over $10.6 billion.

Retail First is kickstarting the Christmas shopping in November with carollers, school performances, decorations, twinkling lights, VIP shopping events, upcoming Santa arrivals and events, nd a bustling Christmas vibe!

Mr Gary Mortimer, Associate Professor of QUT’s Business School, said that Christmas decorations encourage Christmas shopping and it all comes down to shopping psychology.

“Because we are talking about it and shoppers are seeing Christmas items and decorations instore, it makes people start thinking and budgeting for Christmas.”
