Retail First Shopping Centres teams with Quest Newspapers and All Purpose Transport every Christmas to run the Foodbank Food Donation campaign. Foodbank is a charity that feeds 100,000 people in South East Queensland every week, half of which are children. It is mind blowing to think that 50,000 children "on our doorstep" go hungry each week. This number has increased from previous years by about 30,000 people as a result of the floods, cyclones, and other natural disasters, and families still being displaced from their homes. But we can all help to feed local underpriviledged families at Christmas time, by simply purchasing an extra tin of baked beans or a bag of pasta and dropping it into the donation cages that will be located outside each supermarket in Retail First shopping centres.
